A new DIY player is in town
Colos opens its first Belgian megastore in Machelen
Colos, part of the Hubo Group, has opened its first Belgian store in Machelen. Located on the former Makro site, the new store covers approximately 20,000 m² and features a drive-in area for collecting bulky building materials.
With this opening, Colos enters the Belgian DIY market with a broad offering of around 50,000 products, covering categories such as building materials, tools, garden, home improvement and decoration. The store also includes a limited range of everyday essentials.
Colos targets both consumers and professional customers, including self-employed tradespeople and small contractors. The concept is based on an everyday low-price strategy combined with large inventories, aiming to offer customers a comprehensive one-stop destination.
The Machelen store marks the first step in Colos’ Belgian expansion plans. The company has announced its ambition to open several additional stores in the coming years, with former Makro locations among the sites being considered.
